This was Coventry

Coventry has long had a bad reputation- describing people who are ignored or ostracised as having been “sent to Coventry” apparently dates back to the 17th century, and the extensive destruction the city suffered in World War II certainly didn’t help matters. The rebuilding of the city brought architectural work which could be described kindly as having aged quickly and badly, or in blunter terms as heart-breakingly ugly. Fortunately, around the area of the ruins of the old cathedral, some of the old city did survive so I decided to get snappy while the sun shines….
